JAKARTA - men's singles Sony Dwi Kuncoro a surprise by defeating champion China, Lin Dan, in the semi-finals of the Thailand Open GPG, Saturday.
Sony, which is not seeded, beat Lin Dan, are seeded in the first place, in two games, 21-17 21-16. This is the second victory for Sony in 11 meetings.
Sony's first win over Lin Dan in Malaysia Open 2003. When that Sony won 15-11, 15-7.
In the final, Sony will face another Chinese player, Chen Yuekun, who defeated another Chinese player, Gao Huan, 21-14, 21-15. Sony became the only representative of Indonesia in the final.
